So Im taking Inventor projects with our pipeline isolation products in them, adding sections etc in Inventor, then passing them to Inventor Publisher.
In Inventor Publisher I'm then animating the product deployment process, how to build the products, exploring the products in detail etc. lots of animations...
Then I'm Publishing to 360 with the web and mobile viewer. [your system is insecure [IP] for web sharing [downloads, really?] and Ipad/iPhone by the way]
Then im using a very large interactive touch white board for training. [i was 10 years building/designing games and interactive training for business previously]
We have built a new training center, and the 3D interactive animations using Inventor Publisher in 360 are really a big hit with people. A group can stand up and interact with the tools on the white board instead of just watching a video or reading a manual. Its much more engaging, and stays with people a lot longer than any traditional learning tools. Its the future, you have to really see it.
So groups or people are going to be using a big interactive white board to spin the products round, interact with them, see inside them, and fully understand how to use them, build them and repair them before they even see them.
Were going to use this for induction as well, so people can gain a better understanding of our product range. In the future our fabrication guys may use iPads to understand how the parts they make fit before they machine them, and the tech guys in the field might use it as interactive manuals that they can use to troubleshoot or repair.
This is all using Inventor Publisher [web & mobile export] viewer on the PC and iPads. Our software vendor had never seen this before, and the White board makers wer also very impressed.
I would like the existing viewer functionality in place, please dont drop it, its a view of the future. I would ask tho, that you do the following to improve it.
- put all the controls on one side, so someone standing up next to the board can control everything without walking past the board, or an option to.
- improve the touch rotation center of the objects on screen, it seems to be totally random, and center of mass/view is never used, its really terrible just now
- improve the materials and textures that are taken from Inventor, there is far too much grey
- iron out the issues with textures and transparency in the iphone/pad
- misc issues with [web viewer] objects there when they should not be
- Inventor Publisher has a large amount of issues, I'm sure your aware of, i wait for the 3rd quarter release
- full screen .INSTRUCTION view is essential
- get this working with internet explorer!!!!!!!! we cant deploy this otherwise
- should support multi gestures in the web viewer, Firefox is best with a multitouch board
- should be able to actually touch and drag parts, so you can practice building the products. there are loads of companies doing this, but if you combine Mockup 360 and publisher web viewer you are onto a winner! this can then be assessed
- If your going to force us to use the 360 cloud and not allow us to host this internally to protect our IP, i would like to use geotags or a geofence [or IP addesses] in conjunction much better file sharing options, [possibly to recind iPad shared files] to prevent the IP getting off the company reservation. Your security around this is very very badly thought out at this point
I'm not sure you guys know what you have accidentaly created with this, as the interactive training is stunning to see, I come from game development making serious games for training, and this ticks most of the boxes in the simplest way to create it, but if for some reason you are dropping the functionality with the new release, you will find me knocking on your door to ask where its gone.
I'm waiting for the 2015 version of Inventor Publisher to be a massive jump in usability and functionanlity across the board, as well as the iPad viewer, coupled with what I hope are significant improvements to security and management in 360 in the 3rd quarter. If for some reason the 3D .instruction format gets lost in all this and i cant use it or you guys think its not used much, so push it down the priority list, I'm going to kick up a massive fuss at Discovery Place.
I'm developing next gen training and learning content here. I am not sure you know what potential this has yet!
Do me a favour, send this to the Inventor Publisher and 360 guys, they have a lot of work to do so I can WOW more people!
