I would say that it would be better for the apps on i-phones and i-pad if the walking though bottom would be in the lower center of the screen, Because its impossible if you want to walk through to the right hence the bottom of navigation is already on the right (The screen ends and i can't go where i want to preview easly). Have a look from my phone screen.
