Problems with Shortcuts in Vault 2010

Hi!

I had created som new shortcuts in Vault 2010, rearranged them and put them in folders. After 5 min they were all gone. I did not delete them.
I tried on som other files with the same result. Is there someone else that have notice the same problem?

Did you log into the server under a different name?
like IP address or use "localhost" vs. the computer name?

I'm running the Vault MFG jobserver in the background under another user. Maybe that's the reason.

I thought it would be possible to log in to Vault/Inventor as My user and let the Jobserver run on the same machine but with a different user account.

Am I wrong?

Running the Job Server under a different user wouldn't affect your short
cuts.

But what Brian is asking, in the Vault MFG client did you change your
login in any way?

I did not change my user. I have tried to turn off my jobserver now, but the shortcut problems remain.

It sounds like you have a problem with the clients xml files that store
the shortcuts.

What operating system are you using?

Hi,

In Windows Explorer, look for the path
"AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon" inside your personal folder and do a
search for "Shortcuts.xml".

Open the xml file or files (if more than 1 is
found) to see if any stores the shortcut names that you have created. If you
find the file, track down the folder path (such as examples below). Note
the server name in the path - whether it is an IP address, a server name or the
string "localhost". Then log in to Vault 2010 using the same value in the Log In
dialog and you should see the shortcuts.

Examples

-
AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_26_2009\localhost\Vaults\vault\Objects

-
AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\VaultCommon\Servers\Services_Security_1_26_2009\server_name\Vaults\vault\Objects

If none contains a shortcut name, check the
file attributes of the xml file. The file should not be Read-only or
Hidden otherwise the shortcuts cannot be saved.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carol

Hi, could you please confirm this?
face=Arial size=2>Create another new shortcut now, say name it "drawings". Then
open the XML file, do you see "drawing" being stored in the file?

Thanks,

Carol

Just to elaborate, seeing the shortcuts created in
"My Shortcuts" pane does not necessarily mean that they are being saved in the
XML file. The reason I want to verify against the XML file is to
confirm that there is no issue with the file. The shortcut name will be
saved right away, without having to exit Vault.

Thanks,

Carol
