DWF files override access to other files in Vault when using the webclient

We recently upgraded to Vault 2013 and turned on DWF creation.  My Sourcing department used to download the IDW files and provide the IDW file to select suppliers to manufacture our part.  With the DWFs being created in the background, when a user clicks on the IDW file, the DWF file is downloaded.

From the Vault webclient, the user cannot right-click and download the IDW as I expected.  When DWF files are created, they appear to override all other file formats for users using the webclient.

Is there a way for a user (using the weblicent) to download the IDW file instead of the DWF?  Or is the only solution to turn off creating DWFs?

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike,

The CAD file is only downloaded in the event that a dwf is missing.  What is the reason the sourcing department cannot use the dwf?

Our sourcing department has two different types of vendors we deal with. 1. Vendors who simply use our the DWF format, manually program their machines or are more a job shop to manufacture a part. 2. Vendors who use the IDW file in Inventor, converting the data for their CAM applications and creating CNC programs and the like automatically using the IDW file. We want our sourcing department to have the option to either use the DWF or the IDW depending on which vendor they are dealing with at a given point in time. Mike

Ah OK - so the idw has a sheet with a simplified scale view to be used for toolpath creation or the like.

Unfortunately you would need to give them access to a thick client or switch off dwf - there is no option via the webclient to switch between formats,
