Membrane forces

I have run an modal analasys and a  seismic analysis witch generates forces. Ive had a lok kat the mambrane forces in the plate but there are only tention forces.why aren't there any comp. forces?  does the seismic force witch is gen. for the x- dir. the max respons of the quanteties in +x and -x dir. tis is not on the basis of latheral force method where the signs of the forces ar ceept.

You should look at results for particular mode rather than CQC combination unless you create the signed quadratic combination.
