Existing construction hidden lines

In release 4 of Revit Structure, one could no longer hide hidden surfaces in
existing construction with hidden lines when the view is set to new
construction as was possible in Revit Structure 3. The hidden lines show
correctly in the existing phase. Toggle to new construction and they become
solid lines! This makes absolutely no sense to me. I routinely work on
existing buildings where I add new structure to existing. I need to show
both in standard graphic linework. Hidden surfaces are hidden lines!

I understand the Revit team decided it did make sense to have hidden lines
go to solid lines for existing construction. This defect is now carried
forward to Revit Structure 2008. Am I missing something here? Do other users
want hidden surfaces to show as solid lines in existing work? Do I have to
spend my time pick away with the line tool to change them back to hidden?
