I would like to use the "slice graphics" option while working on the parts.
It should be an option for general view and not just a "dead" way of representing the odel.
It works great in SolidWorks and i a big deal for me although i favour Inventor in every other aspect.
There are currrently two different ways to get something similar to a "Slice Graphics" section view while working in a part. The first (and easiest IMO) is to use a "Section View" under the "View" Tab. This will allow you to section parts and assemblies while your working in them. You can even save them as view reps (but they can't be viewed in a drawing). The second option would be to use the "Section Analysis" under the "Inspect" tab. These are saved as an "Analysis Cross Section" and may be turn on and off at will.
Is this what your looking for?
Slicing the view should be a completely transparent command, available at all stages of modelling, sketching, assembling etc..
Having it on a hot key that could be used at any time would be a great addition to Inventor.
I'm aware of the current slicing options, but these can't be instigated or edited mid way through a command.
While editing a sketch, you can hit the F7 key to toggle "Slice Graphics" thru the plane of your sketch.
Yes I very much agree and hope that it will be added.
Yes and that is how easy it should be for the section view in assemblies as well.
BTW. If you prefer keeping one hand on your mouse and the other on a 3D-mouse, is is now (since inventor 2013 I think) Posible to togle the sketch version of section view on and off with a small button in the bottom of your screen.
