multi user option shaded out

We have a problem with the multi user option being shaded out and cannot change it from off to shared or semi-isolated. There is an assembly with parts that are checked out and of course it will not let us make changes to them, but we cannot change the user mode to allow us to check them back in, and the person who is did it is not here anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen this happen if you have an "included path" file in your
project file. If you have this, try switching to the included project
file and changing it there.

I have written a tool which will unreserve files, it might be of use
with your problem. It is in kind of an early beta stage but it has been
working for me. It is posted to:
http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/iCode/UnReserveR6.zip. If you have
already structured a project in Semi-Isolated mode, I am not sure what
it will do to your project as it can release all ownership. In theory,
if you had already checked in all the files from your workspace then
nothing in the Workgroup should be flagged as checked out. The utility
would clear whatever checkouts (reserved) are on the files.

I wrote it because I was tired of picking "Steal Checkout" on multiple
parts. I wanted a tool which would just clear all the ownership. Since
then, it seemed to me like a good utility for locking libraries and
maintenance so I added a few more options. What it doesn't do, is
migrate files, copy or move files or create OldVersions of files.
