Serial #'s and Contract #'s

Just wondering ... Hmmmmm

My Serial Number and CD Key didn't change between 5.0, 5.3, and 6.0

R7 showed up yesterday and it has a new Serial # and CD Key but even
stranger - the contract number for my subscription is different than the
contract # for past releases. Anybody else notice this?

I'm not amazed by anything Autodesk subscription does anymore.

In my years of dealing with Autodesk's subscription center I've gotten

a) too many boxes
b) not enough boxes
c) boxes with wrong serial #s
d) boxes with NO serial numbers
e) told my contact had expired
f) told my contact was paid up for 3 years to come

You may be correct Kent.
I just installed and tried to register - the result is:
"This serial number is already registered and registration cannot be
completed on-line."

Oh great! Just what I need to deal with! ^&#$^#$%$#

ron,
You should not need to register. You're a standalone subscription aren't
you?

I've been standalone since R1 and I've had to get a new auth code every
single release.

That's weird. I've never needed to authorize since mdt3 and not IV5.3 or
IV6. Now I'm scared to install.

This is the first time I had to register in a long time - probably related
to the new S/N - but when I fired it up, it asked me to register.

I wonder if they screwd up the packages. My contract# changed, but
serial# and cdkey are the same.

Things are "rotary fastener"ed royally.

I called the number provided to authorize the product and the girl was major
confused because the name I gave didn't match the name they had in their
database for that serial number. She wouldn't divulge what name she was
showing. She then transferred me to Customer Service and I spoke with a
nice girl named Alisha.

Alisha was confused too. I gave her my "real" contract number and she then
asked where I got the first contract number because it was registered to
someone else. I asked her who it was registered - she didn't divulge who it
was registered to either but said they were on "such and such" street.
Well, I recognized the street name and said "Oh, I must have Geoff's box".
Alisha was surprised that I knew who just by the street name - but Geoff is
my buddy 🙂

I'm now waiting for Alisha to call me back - but I am a little worried
because she said this was the 2nd such call for Inventor today. Said
something about Fedex messing up addresses - but I don't see how it can be
Fedex's fault since Autodesk puts the address labels on the boxes.

Called my friend - sure enough, the box he has matches my old S/N and
Contract number. We'll swap boxes next time we see each other - in the
mean time, I'll just use my old S/N on my other machines.

Alisha never called me back 😞

I just feel sorry for others who must have gotten mixed up boxes - I'm sure
they won't be as lucky as me and actually knowing the person/company who
gets theirs.

Hej Ron

Do I actually se a little grumpy face in here

Happy you, you only have 2 licenses, imaging having a server pool off 3
licenses servers up running with about 60 licenses and 80 users charring
these. And every time you upgrade some of these licenses Autodesk sends you
licenses server codes for x - 3 to 5 licenses because they somehow have some
off your license numbers registered in the name of other companies.

Can you imaging what you have to go thru to convince them that these
licenses belongs to your company. Because they have a database that says
something else.

This is not me again nagging at you, just my way to try and say that I hope
we come along in this group and can help each other in the future.

Second opinions on things newer herds And you are not working for me so
what,

I cant fire you this was a little slipper " Sorry Okay " my emotions ran
off.

Regards Kent boettger.
