Hi, How to etch numbers in sheetmetal? Can I use text in an ipt and extrude this?
Is it possible to save as dxf with etch lines in a different colour? I didn't find a possibility to change colour in the Layer DXF Export Options or must this be done in Autocad?

Place a setch on the part face where you want and insert text block. Then use the "Emboss" command under the Model tab. Have turned on edges to show what it does more clearly. I havce mine set to emboss inwards, but you may also emboss raised letters.
How is it recognizable in the dxf that the text is embossed anfd not completely trough?
Thanks for all contributions.
I find it easier to create a drawing, then add part numbers etc for marking, then save idw as dwg. That way the text comes in on a different layer. The dwg will be at 1:1 scale. A final clean up in autocad and save as dxf for cutting.
We make all of our DXFs from a sheet in the part drawing. On the DXF sheet we can add special notes for our programmers that are included in the DXF file. We make that notes and the special features (i.e. the etched numbers) a different color to distinguish them from the normal geometry.
