Display Appearance Settings

I am looking to change visual style default to Shaded with edge's however when i go about changing it in Aplication options - Display tab - appearance settings, i am stopped with a message as found in attached image. Please help.

Welcome to the Forum!

As the message states, your current default is controlled by the document settings.

You can either set it to use the application options and have it use those in each document (more of an override.), or you'll have to change the document settings in your template.

ok this explains a lot, how would i go about changing my document settings in my template?

Open your template

Go to Tools > Document settings (should be next to the application options.)

On the main tab (standards) click on the button "settings..."

In the window that pops up you can set the visual style to what you want it to be.

Hit OK on all the boxes to accept the change and save your template.

That should do it, you'll have to repeat for every relevant template.
(sheet metal, part, assembly.)
