Better Drawing Dimension control

Better Drawing Dimension control

A couple things

1.  Hide the generated dimension value

2.  Override the displayed value

3.  Change the precision of the primary unit

4.   Access to the tolerance methods

Thanks,

Andrew

5.  Make the textOrigin of a broken allignment section view function the same as a baseView.  IE:  the textOrigin of a broken allignment section view is based from the sheet origin where as the textOrigin of a baseView is based from the view origin.  This type of thing seems somewhat common; parameters that function one way in a situation and work another way in a different situation.

Addressing the first 3 issues. If you have your Application Options (Drawing Tab) check box for (Edit dimension when created) checked,

Then for issues 1,2 and 3 these options are already available. For issue 1) From the Text tab, there is a check box to (Hide Dimension Value), then you simply type what ever you want and it appears as you type it, solving issue 2. As to issue 3) from the same Edit Dimension dialog box simply select the (Precision and Tolerance) tab, you then can overide the default settings for (Primary Unit) and (Primary Tolerance). There is also an option to (Override Displayed Value). You can also toggle the (Edit dimension when created) option from this tab.

This is of course for Inventor 2015, but I'm sure I remember similar features in eariler versions.

Not sure about issue 4) except there are all kinds of tolerance symbols available from the (Text) tab from the (Edit Dimension) dialog box.

 any how, hope this helps.
