Travis,
"Why don't you just have her mirror
the file structure of the I:\ drive on her home PC? You can create a share
on her local C:\ with the same structure as your file server I:\ and map the
share as I:\ on her local computer. Even though it will still be accessing
her hard drive, the program won't change the paths and work just like it is on
the I:\ at work. Seems like a simple work around to me."
This is a laptop computer that is used to dock into our
office network. our security protocols will not let us create a mapped drive
"I:\" when she logs onto the server it removes the share?
Richard,
"You can always have her use the PROJECTNAME system
variable to assign a
different search path for the files too.
I'm not
sure why you are having to repath these files in the first place. It
doesn't
usually work that way without someone changing something."
Doesn't using a project name create problems on sharing
files with outsidse firms?
I don't know why this is happening either. My
understanding is that if you have directory structure for xref and you save a
set of files into only 1 directory it will search for the original directory and
if it finds none then it will look for the dwg in the current
directory.
I am having a problem with
ACAD2002 xref paths on a network. all of the
computers in our office have a
pathed drive (I:\2004 Jobs\04-065\Acad\*)
that has all of our project files
on it.
One of the designers in our office works from home. when she
copies the
drawings to her hard drive we have been having her place all of
the files
into a single folder on here C: drive such as
(C:\Jobs\04-065\).
We store our projects in the following
manner:
Xref folder - I:\2004 Jobs\04-065\Acad\Xref
Mechanical folder
- I:\2004 Jobs\04-065\Acad\Mech
Electrical folder - I:\2004
Jobs\04-065\Acad\Elec
Whe the designer copies her files back to the
server we keep having to
repath all of the xrefs. is there a way around this?
my understanding was
that if she were to keep the files in one directory we
wouldn't have this
problem.
