server crash

I have been told that there is a script file that can be run on a networked autocad station to make it believe it is a 30 day stand alone trial version. That gives the firm time to fix the server but keep everyone working.
Has anyone ever heard or tried this?

You can simply "check out" the license for that time period (or longer,
depending on version), under your Tools pulldown you should see a "License
Borrowing" option....

Yes,

I have a post that explains that process here in the forum...

Here is the summary:

You need to modify a key in the registry that tells AutoCAD if it is a network version or a stand-alone version. The registry key is located in:

HKLM \ Software \ Autodesk \ AutoCAD \ R16.x \ ACAD-400x:xxx \ AdLM

You want to modify the value of the REG_DWORD Type to:

19 = Network (25-decimal)
2a = Stand-alone (42-decimal)

The values are in hexidecimal.

When you start AutoCAD again, it will ask you if you want to run as a 30-day or Authorize your stand-alone copy. You can't authorize it, so run as a 30-day. This will only work if it has never run as a 30-day. Also, once this process has been done and you've expired the trial, it can never be done again on that computer.
