Not to start an argument or anything, but this topic was discussed a long time ago when some of us were forced off other License Manager platforms (Netware, anyone?) and wanted to use a Windows 2000 Pro (not server) box for license management. A lot of claims were made about the 10 connection limit, but nobody had actual facts. In my opinion, Windows Workstation licenses limit concurrent connections to *services provided by the O/S*, meaning file and print services. Add-on products like FlexLM are not limited, not by license and not by technical means, in my opinion. I did test a simple TCP/IP service with over 10 connections at a time, and I did run FlexLM which got more than 10 concurrent connections, on Windows 2000 Pro. So I believe it works, and I believe it complies with the license. Having said all that, server-class hardware and O/S are better suited for FlexLM, especially with large numbers of licenses.
