Revit Architecture 2012 reinstall issues

I am having serious problems trying to install Revit Architecture 2012 back on my computer.   I have followed all the help online about removing old installations and have removed all of the other programs as well from my registry.

Basically what has happened is my computer experienced a hard drive crash and so I wiped and reinstalled windows etc, but I am now unable to reinstall Revit.

When the installation wizard downloads it only says successful beside the first item and won't install the library or viewer (2nd and 3rd Items on the list)  and therefore won't finish the installation.

I spoke to 2 seperate people at autodesk and the last person advised me to try here.  I have spent an embaressing amount of time on this, this week and I now only have 4 weeks to complete a design for school.

Please Help!

Hello Jason,

Hopefully we can get this figured out for you!

The best way to troubleshoot an installation error is by looking through your install log to determine what failed. Please see the following FAQ for additional information on how to find the log.

Once obtained, either look for the failure (typically has an error code attached) and search in the forums for a corresponding solution, or attach it on a reply post so that one of the community experts can examine accordingly.

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603

Your product is failing to install because the prerequiste program required by the installer is newer than the version being installed. Please uninstall the prerequisite program causing the issue and run your installer again.

For more information about this process, please see my KB link here:

Good Luck!

I tried to uninstall and reinstall several times and it was not successful.  In an effort to fix this problem faster I went out and bought a new desktop.

Now I am getting the error 1603 and 1619.   Please help I have now lost 2 weeks out of a 5 week course trying to uninstall and reinstall software everyday, so I can complete me work, and I can really not afford to waste anymore time on this.

Here is the new error log:

J_miles,

When installing, you should make sure of the following:

-Log into the client machine as an administrator

-Antivirus should be turned off

-Windows UAC should be turned off (Click the Windows button and in the run box type UAC and press enter and move the slider down)

-Any Malware protections should be turned off

After you have verified the above and still failed on an installation, we need to look at some other things:

-If you are installing from a USB stick, stop. Copy the contents off the stick to a local drive, preferably C:\

-There could be a NET conflict. Open your Control panel and uninstall your NET entries. You can then let the program install them or go to Microsoft to download the latest and greatest. Beta NET installs should be removed.

-It looks like you are having a C++ redistributable problem. Your systems will likely have multiple entries. Uninstall the redistributables and let the program install them.

-For installs with multiple programs, for testing sake, at least, it is often useful to try and just install one program by itself to see if it will install alone. It is easier to try and install one program and possibly succeed, instead of installing all programs, failing on the last install and rolling back all the installations.
