Query about network performance

I'm an admin for our new network (Novell v4.2) and we have 5 terminals. 2 of
these use Autocad 2002. The terminals use WinXP Home and Win ME. I'm not an
Autocad user myself (I do databases).

Problem seems to be that if the users works on a 2.5Mb .DWG file stored on
their C: drive, all is OK. When they start using a file stored on the file
server, the speed of their machines slow down gradually. Then, even if they
switch back to working on a file on their C: drive, the workstation still
runs slow. The only way to fix it is RESET the workstation.

I appreciate working on a 2.5Mb network file is going to be slower, but I
would have thought when they switch back to their C: drive, the processing
speed would then increase.

Is there a setting in Autocad I need to adjust? Can someone suggest a way to
troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks very much,
Pat (a non CAD user)
