I'm having an interesting issue occur on the new system image I'm building for our drafting classes.
We have been using Design Academy for a number of years, and I recently got 2011 and started installing applications on a workstation. In doing so, I found when launching Inventor and/or Mechanical Desktop, the apps prompt for the license server name. When I give it the name it launches just as it should.
In searching this board I found several solution suggestions, none of which have worked. I tried the cascadeinfo.cas file rename/delete. I've removed Symantec Endpoint Protection to see if it was blocking traffic somehow. I've double-checked the servers (running two in distributed mode.) I'll just metion that the servers are both Win2003/32 vm's, but I don't think that is an issue, as they ran just fine last year on ADA 2010.
What I do see is in the log file:
3464 2010/07/22 12:13:18 Reason=Fatal error

I don't know if this will help anyone figure out what's happening, but it's driving me nuts, and I can only imagine what the teachers and students will have to say if I do get it resolved. I will also mention that I tried the timeout environmental variable and that caused the system to take 4-5 minutes before correctly opening the application.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
-brad
Your -18 error shows that your license does not support the feature. Essentially that means that there is something wrong with the product possibly not matching what is in the license. Are you sure you updated to the 2011 license and it is the license type that matches your installed media?
Absolutely positive. I have two lines listed in both license servers. The first is 85625DES_ACA_2011_0F and 85536ACD_2011_0F.
What should I have for an install of Design Academy 2011? Last year's license only had 80200DES_ACA_2010_0F, and I never had an issue with it.
It's possible that your AutoCAD license is interferring with your Design Academy license. You might reconfigure to use use your Design Academy INCREMENT for now and see if your problem is resolved.
