FATAL ERROR: Security System (hardware lock....

Hello All:

I've been searching for a fix to this message. There seem to be a plethora
of issues that might cause this but I haven't found the one that seems to
alleviate it in my instance.

The system is a newly upgraded (cleanly upgraded) XP Pro (was Win2k), Dual
Athlon 1GB RAM, etc. etc. It's plugged in to a standard NT4.0 server TCP/IP
network. There are two other XP Pro systems that are also plugged in and
the Network Install of AutoCAD2000 ran smoothly and both start AutoCAD
without a hitch.

On this upgraded system, the network install ran fine but when I start
AutoCAD2000 I get:

<<<
AutoCad Error
Aborting" dialog box stating "FATAL ERROR: security system (hardware lock or
network license) is not functioning or is improperly installed."
<<<

When you click okay a memory read error occurs and when click okay again a
memory write error occurs.

No other machines have ever had any troubles getting licenses.

The clock is synchronized. I installed the lates sentinel drivers (even
though it's NOT a hardware locked version). I also checked C-Dilla, just for
kicks along with the Bios parallel port settings - still no luck.

All other network functions (including often finicky internet) are just fine
from this machine.

Any additional direction on fixing this? Is there an 800 number I can call
for support (even if I have to pay!). It seems like someone at AutoDesk
probably has the right answer and it is probably a quick fix.

Thanks in advance.

Petri:

That did the trick. I had not found that particular fix when searching.
Thank you very much!
