Client install from CD?

I'm trying to install MDT version 6 to my client PC's. I have the ADLM up and running with the .lic file in place (obtained from AutoDesk). I want to have the software locally installed on each "client" pc, then have the client request a license from the server. My question is, can I install the software from the CD to each client PC and configure them to grab a network license or do I have to install the software on the server and use the "deployment" directory to install from the server to the client pc? I do NOT want to install the software on the server and "deploy" it to the clients. I want to install the software strait from the cd to the client, then configure/obtain the license from the server. Can this be done?

Not quite sure if this will help, but what I did
when installting AutoCAD 2k2, was to make the deployment directory on the
server.During this proces the path to the .lic file, and "AutoCAD
today" is specified, just make sure to specify the NETWORK path (
href="file://\\server\directory\file">\\server\directory\file
).

This I then proceded to make CD-Rom copies of. All
workstations were installed from the cd-roms with NO problems (setup.exe - look
out the window and enjoy the view - reboot - done!).

Sincerely

I don't know with the new NetFlex Licence manager, but untill AutoCAD 2000i based products, you HAVE TO use the deploiment tool.
Ohterwise you encounter problems in findind the Licence server.
On client computers you can set the environment variable
ACADSERVER=@servername
That is if the path is \\servername
But it won't change a stand-alone version into a NLS one.
Another BIG advantige of the deploiment is that all client computers are installed the same way, so that copying over profiles between them is no problem.

You can do it from cd but you still have to do the initial client deployment
setup.  It doesn't have to be to a sever, you can create the deployment
tree locally to a workstation.  Then just burn a CD of the deployment
tree and take it to the workstations to complete the installs.
