Any Ideas?
Thanks
Is this install being done from DVD, Download, or a Deployment?
The 1619 errors might indicate Bad media or source files.
An antivirus scan or other background application might have caused file problems while extracting the files from a Download. You might launch the WinRAR self extracting executable (the actual downloaded .exe) after stopping the Antivirus product you have installed. It might even be good to reboot to Diagnostic Mode for this extraction and subsequent installation.
I have seen Deployment source files go bad and have seen Network connectivity or permission problems cause similar issues. Make sure the user has Modify permissions for both the Share and the NTFS ACLs. You might need to create a new Deployment on a new Share or a Share on a different Volume or Computer.
If you are installing from DVD try copying to the local hard drive then launch the setup.exe from the hard drive. If there is more than one disk copy the contents from the additional disks in the disk number order into the same folder where you copied Disk 1 and choose to overwrite any files if it comes up.
There is another install log file called “AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 Install.log.” can you post that here if you continue to have trouble? You will find it in the temp folder of the computer you are installing to. The best way to go looking for it is to type %TEMP% in the address bar of internet explorer or from Start > Run with Windows XP or the search text field at the bottom of the Start Menu in Windows Vista or Windows 7.
It is a (silent) deployment installation
we use sophos anti virus, but I cannot disable
We have Autocad 2011 which is deployed in a similar way and does not encounter this problem
Log files zipped and attached
Thanks
I have another file, but even when zipped it is over 1.5Mb. I have used 7-zip, but changed its extention from 7z to zip because it is not an extention that this site accepts, I hope you have the utility to uncompress.
Thanks
Your log file has a very large number of “Failed to generate hash for file” errors. I have never seen such a thing in an AutoCAD install log file and we have no record of Service Requests for it. I did a Google search on it and found information on this happening during installation of many applications from high end Enterprise applications to the lowliest of desktop applications. However I found no solution there.
So let us step back to Deployment best practices which include installing AutoCAD from the DVD or download before creating a Deployment and installing from the deployment without Silent installation enabled until a few installations are completed.
What is the result of installing from the DVD or Download? If this works modify the Deployment so that it is not silent. Doing this may bring out error dialog boxes that provide more helpful information. Post screen shots of any errors and the new log file. “AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 Install.log” is the log file I am looking at here.
If the DVD or Download installation fails a clean reinstall is your next step so that you can remove the “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared” folder. This is the location for all the files with the hash error in the log.
Make sure you backup any customizations before completing the clean reinstall. I believe you can leave these user resources in place:
Windows XP:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\ Application Data\Autodesk
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk
This may be a file system or operating system problem.
Let us know your results.
Ok will try to install using DVD direct to one WS prior to creating a deployment image.
As a side note, I have tried the second recommendation, by following a clean install using the deployed image and it still fail during the installation of the language pack and subsequently it "rolledback" the installation.
Cheers
Install from CD worked without a hitch.
