BOM length update of custom content centre parts

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a BOM problem I'm having.

Situation: a structural shape that needs non-square ends, either angled or coped somehow
I think: this needs to be a custom part
I do: I guess at a length (angled part) I place the structural shape based on angle and orientation. I then cut the ends to the proper angle to fit in my assembly

My problem: If I guess too long the BOM has the incorrect length, even if I use the change size option. Is there a way the program can automatically update the BOM with the new length? I know I can measure the length myself and override the BOM, but that's where mistakes can happen, it would be better if the program could do it automatically.

additional: if I customize more than one of the same content centre structural shape (coped ends), is there a way to merge them in the BOM into one line?

Maybe there's a better way to assemble in this case.

Thanks for any help,

D.
