AutoCAD 2011 MS C++ Error on Win7

The new software we have been provided for installing AutoCAD 2011 includes Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable package and it insists on installing first. The problem is that that package is not compatible with Windows 7 OS. We were told that the product was ready to install on Win7 (I've inherited this because other people left the organization) but the 2008 redistributable is not. I've asked the sales rep about a workaround and got back a useless response ("before we can offer a workaround we need to make sure all aspects of AutoCAD are working correctly"). That seems like an odd response for a fresh install that fails with the first bit of software on the CD.

Is there a patch or workaround to have AutoCAD 2011 work with the 2010 C++ redistributable which has been successfully loaded on the Windows 7 box. The users are anxious to begin using the new product and we are at a standstill.

Thanks for any and all help.
