So we upgrade to the 'Inventor Bundle' and now have to uninstall Mecchanical 6 PP and install the same exact application from the 'Inventor Bundle'. As a horrible side effect we now have to visit each desktop, instead of just pointing them to the new licenses!!!!!
Our old license has the following:
With these licenses the user are using AutoCAD 2002 and Mechanical Power
Our new license has the following:
With these licenses the user can use AutoCAD 2002 and Mechanical Power Pack
So why do we have to re-install the client software onto each and every client? I tried editing the licpath.lic so that it points to the new server, but this isn't
working. Instead of AutoCAD 2002 or Mechanical Power Pack 6 launching, they produce this error:
"License server does not support this feature (-18,327)"
It seems like we are getting burned on a technicality here. We want to use the exact same software (AutoCAD 2002 and Mechanical PP 6) but have to re-install on every client just
because AutoDesk renamed the product.
> Anyone have a hack to get around this problem?
I sympathise with the time it will take to reinstall, but the behaviour to search for the license is
hard coded within the program files, therefore it is necessary to redeploy with the updated files
(although it is essentially the same program from a feature perspective).
There are advantages from an administration perspective in that you only require the one feature
code to run all products.
