ADLM and the Internet

A few big questions, any and all input is welcome!

1. What port is the ADLM acting through? I know mail
operates on 25, web pages on 80, but what does ADLM use?

2. How do I direct my machine to go to a specific address
when searching for a license?

3. Has anyone had any luck using a VPN and the ADLM? We are
trying to establish a way to use our DSL to attach to the
ADLM and grab a license from off-site.

Thanks in advance!

udp port 1422

Set the ACADSERVER variable.  See http://www.autodesk.com/support/solutions/14592.htm

Should work but has not been tested.  Just make
sure that udp port 1422 is unrestricted and you set ACADSERVER

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so very much! I'll let you know after we get it up
and running how eerything works. It'll be mid-October, but
it should be an interesting experiment.

OK, I was a bit too hasty in my relief. The ACADSERVER
variable only works in ACAD 2000. What about all of us
people running 14? I'm actually trying to use this with LDD,
so 2000 isn't even remotely an option. How do I control the
server selection in LDD? Thanks again!

James,

ACADSERVER works the same way for Release 14. One setting will work for
both 14 and 2000.

OK, thanks again. You might include the directions on
setting the variable in that technical solutions document
you directed me to. It has the premise, but not the
directions on how to accomplish it. I found my solution in
the help files, but it would have been helpful if it was on
that page. Thank you for your help. I'll let you know if it
works when we get the system up and running.
