I'm attempting to create a 3ds max deployment for our renderfarm. It will only let me create a deployment with a valid license. I don't want to over-extend our subscription installation licenses on the farm.
If I type in our subscription Serial and Key will it count them as installations or is the serial number exclusively for the creation of the deployment? I essentially just want to deploy a trial to all of our rendernodes.
Hi im.thatoneguy
You can create a deployment with the serial number and product and it won't take a license or activation. If you have standalone licenses it won't activate until the user launches the application, you are simply adding the serial number and product key so already populated when they are installing. With network licenses it's simply pointing to the server and providing the serial nubmer/product key for them for their installation.

Force activing on first launch is a very very bad policy. There needs to be control during deployment to ask before activating.
I have a render farm machine that now shares a license with my workstation (for 2011 and 2012), because I needed to launch to UI to work out some plugin configuration problems. So how do you install without needing a serial or be able to run it in trial mode to handle tool configuration as needed? How do I deactivate this machine?
