Licensing Error in AutoCAD, 3ds Max

I get this error when launching AutoCAD on my new PC. I have an education license, and on my old PC, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3ds Max all worked perfectly fine. I also installed Revit on my new PC a couple of weeks ago, and it’s still working smoothly. However, all of a sudden, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, or any other Autodesk software I install no longer work.

I tried the fixes mentioned in the Licensing Error Autodesk , but none of them works. Edit: I just noticed that on the top-right corner of the AutoCAD window (the error message appears at the middle of this window), it shows my Gmail account that is linked to the education license. So clearly, I’m logged in properly, then what could be the problem?

@zvaczxac What are the year versions for your three software?

All are the latest 2026 version, I also tried installing the 2024 version of 3ds Max a while ago but that shows the same message as well. Is there any log file that I can share with you to have a look into? @pendean

Update: I checked the Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service using the command AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe list, and the list only shows Revit. The other products like AutoCAD or 3ds Max are missing.

Yes I did every one of them. A while ago I even clean uninstalled everything and installed AutoCAD again, but still the same message.

I think I did that, I don't exactly remember as it's been days, I had class projects so had to get back to my old PC, where they were all working fine. I think I'll just reinstall the windows when I get a bit free and see if that works. But I have to admit that it was really painful, searching and doing everything in every guide, but ultimately nothing working, I mean is there no way to tell from the log files just whats wrong and solve just that particular problem through a simple fix, log files are supposed to store all the information right or perhaps I am mistaken.

Hello @zvaczxac ,
Please try the steps mentioned below to fix your issue.

Registering a product

  1. Make sure the Autodesk Licensing Service is properly running.
  2. Navigate to the folder where the installation files are located.
  3. Once in the folder, in File Explorer search for files with *.pit extension. For AutoCAD for example, the file would be AutoCADConfig.pit. The .pit file for Revit is Revitconfig.pit. If you have other versions, you will need to get the pit file for that specific version.
  4. Copy the *.pit file and paste it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current\helper\.
  5. Open an elevated Command Prompt (press WIN+R > type cmd > press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER).
  6. Run the following command:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current\helper\AdskLicensingInstHelper.exe" register -pk product key -pv year.0.0.F -cf "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing\Current\helper\AutoCADConfig.pit" -el US
Notes about the command:
  • product key changes depending on the software. List of product keys: Look Up Product Keys. For AutoCAD 2023 that is 001O1.

  • year changes depending on the version. For AutoCAD 2023 that is 2023.

Oh I'm so sorry @lokajita.saravananQM9YN , I've been really busy for the past couple of weeks. Now to be honest just two days earlier I reinstalled my windows to see if the softwares work then, and as I assumed they are all working fine now. Revit, Max, AutoCAD, every one of them. So as for your fix, I'm not sure if that would work, but if anyone is seeing this comment, who has the same issue, I think I would just recommend to reinstall your windows, so much time saving than trying each and every fixes. I wasted two days in this right before my submission deadline.

But thank you for responding even after all this time:)
