Toolbars or digitizer?

Here's another question following the TFT or Flat issue.
TOOLBARS OR DIGITIZER?

Any advice from users of digitizers will be greatly
appreciated.
What are the most frequently problems encountered
with digitizer?
Is it possible to toggle between the two easily?

Thanks in advance
Nec

This is purely a preference. Since ACAD is now in Windows you don't need a
digitizer since all your buttons are on the screen now. I use to love my
digitizer and 16 button puck. Had all my most used commands and snaps on the
buttons and every command that I use on my tablet, also short key strokes
for most commands. I still rarely use buttons or icons but I type 1 or 2
keystroke commands with my left and mouse with my right. Really have no
need for a digitizer now that sheetfed scanners are the norm in all offices.

Can someone help me? I'm working for my technical school in the Civil Engineering department, and I have been trying to figure out why the tablet sheet we have printed out and laminated with all the commands for AutoCAD 2002 was not usable after we upgraded to 2004 and downgraded back to 2002. We use a CalComp DrawingBoard III 34360. If anyone can guide us through on our attempt of being able to macro the keys from AutoCAD onto this sheet taped to the digitizer board I would greatly appreciate it since our class is having trouble contacting support. If possible to put into simple terms then that would be better too.

I found out the problem, we had the fixed screening area overlapping our template. Our teacher thought we needed it to be that big because of D-Size drawings, but we figured it out while troubleshooting the problem and it can't overlap the template.

OK...this may sound silly. I used a tablet years ago and preferred it to the pull down menu's...so I purchased a Calcomp tablet and it functions fine as a pointing device. I went through the tablet configuration, defined my menu and drawing areas, but still cant select functions using the puck. How do you assign the functions? Can they be customized?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Chris
