OBJ & Texture Map Question

I'm working on a project for ROKU and was given a OBJ model and a texture map to do some animation with.  When I added the SHINE option in Smoke the model got these little dimples in the map.  Please look at the image I attached. I tried upping the polygons but it did not seem to work.  Is there any way of getting rid of those weird artifacts in the model or mapping??

Not sure why Shine would really cause the artifact unless there is a flaw in the model. Or in Smoke's interpretation of the model.
Does it matter if you swap out the textre at all? Does it still occur with the default diffuse color set to black-gray?

I think the problem is in the way the model topography was made.
