Data shortcut profiles Yay or Nay?

So I see if I Data Shortcut (DS) profiles from my alignments I get some weirdness.

Process: Profile>Create Surface Profile, select my DS profile and create profile view, all good up to this point. NEXT select profile and add labels with grades breaks, crest and sag curves I get a bazillion labels. Like there must be ton of vertices on a DS profile? At this point I have to promote the profile to the view however if the original FG changes I have to do it all over again.

What's the answer for DS profiles and labels? (Attached Image shows DS profile and promoted profile)

Design/Layout profiles yeah. Surface profiles nope. Linetype generation on dref'd surface profiles doesn't generate properly. Dref the surface and cut the profile in that file.

Not entirely sure what I did but I went back and edited my design profile (i'll call it "A") in my source drawing. I came back into my construction dwg and renamed the promoted profile to "A-1" then re-referenced the "A" profile.  I then added new labels to "A" and now it works great. Labels are proper and the profile is a reference.
