NT4, R14, ATI dll, Blue screen

We have many compaq PC's running NT4 SP6a, 128 ram, Acad14 and genius,
office 97 pro, outlook 2000.
We continually get blue screen of death complaining about an ati rage dll
file in the dump message.
This only happens on the machines with an ATI Rage Pro video chip. Dumps
only when Acad is running.
We tried generic ATI drivers with same results.
Any suggestions. No mention of the ati dll's at autodesk.

We are running Dell P2-400 with 128MB RAM with Windows NT4.0 and have had
blue screen crashes for a year and a half. The blue screen reports a
Physical Memory Dump, which I am told has to do with the pagefile.sys.
Anyways, other workstations not running AutoCAD were not having this problem
(with only 64MB RAM), but since there are instances where AutoCAD was not
running and we have had blue screens, I know it must be something in Windows
NT. I have tried to keep up with the latest service pack, and even installed
a new 32MB video card. Everytime I upgrade something, the crashes go away
for a while, but resurface 2-3 months later. We have been in contact with
Autodesk, which only said to make sure the video driver was up to date.
Right now, we are not experiencing any major downtime due to blue screens,
but next month might be different. My only suggestion is to make sure you
set your autosave to 10-15 minutes so you don't loose to much work.

This sort of behavior can be caused by a bad (or badly seated) memory chip.
You might try reseating the RAM chips and/or swapping them out for known
good ones to see if the problem disappears.

Please note that we have many nearly identical PC's running this same config
without any problems. Same bx chipset, same memory, CPU's are 266, 300, and
400's. Same sound device. The only difference
being the specific video chip set called "ATI 3D Rage Pro" (not rage pro II,
not "Rage Pro 3D 1x" or "2x")
All machines not using this video chip set are OK.Also note the dump comes
up ONLY when autocad 14 is in use.

Thanks for the responses so far.

It would also pay to look at your screen resolution as well as getting onto ati
(its there card). Its wierd to hear of the blue screen problem. I have ati cards
(a mix) 32megs to 260megs of ram on machines middling at 266. Autocad has never
been a problem. Perhaps look the virtual memory settings to give the page file
as much as it needs(250Meg minimum).

Thanks Jim
After furthur investigation:
Virt Mem is 400mg. We are running Genuis. Eng. reports blue screen happens
with Genuis running, and inserting a second drawing into the first from the
local disk.
ATI's sight had nothing on the problem.
Compaq's sight had nothing on the problem.
Autodesk's sight had nothing on the problem.
I have disabled the IRQ for the video card that was shared by USB port(not
used) as default.
Does Acad use Open GL and Direct x at the same time? Across a shared IRQ?
Boom, er, Bluue.
Hope this does it.
Thanks, Matt Walker
