Autocad LT 2015

Just downloaded the new version of LT and would welcome comments on stability, errors etc from anyone that has loaded and used this new version. LT 2014 of which I currently use was full of issues (flickering, Autodesk 360 causing error messages, etc) and therefore a little nervous of loading LT2015.

1. Can LT2015 be loaded without Autodesk 360?
2. What are the differences between LT 2014 and LT2015? Usually Autodesk release some flyers etc on what's new in recent version but can't seem to find these on their website.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Daryl

1. Yes, but use the custom install option and also ensure no other boxes are checked that may still load autodesk360.
2. LT2015 official announcement is today, pacific time, in San Francisco: you'll see more info after that.

All the quirks in LT2014 were addressed: you fear trying them? No software is perfect, if that's what you want you might want to start writing you own.

Darylt never asked for perfect software, so no need for your last statement. Perhaps just stick to answering the questions next time.

Not offended by the response but would expect a specialist CAD company to release a product that work's straight out the box! Autodesk have millions of customers who remain faithful to their products. I am sick and tired of having to sort out issues with every release of AutoCAD LT.

This latest release (LT 2015) has been no different i.e. for some unknown reason the print dialogue window does not show any paper sizes (drop down menu) for my Designjet T520 printer. Other printers (1 x A4 HP printer and 1 x A3 HP printer) are fine. T520 is also working fine on LT 2014. Any suggestions?

I have been with Autodesk since LT 14 (Many moons ago!) and am now seriously considering looking for an alternative cad software as I simply do not have the time to sort out Autodesk issues on an annual basis.

Rant over, it’s the weekend and I'm going home!

I totally agree, but that's not how Autodesk operated in the past or how they operate now. And they don't really address issues with devices by others sadly, that has to come from the vendor or mutually by both of them. Start a new thread in the print-plot forum for your issue, let the folks there take a crack at helping you out (after your weekend of course).

Are you participating in the Beta (millions do not, hence the field issues after release)? That's where quirks happen, the more than join in the more Autodesk gets exposed to issues to add to their list to fix. Posting around here is great for other users like you and me, but Autodesk spends little to no time fishing for issues here. If you are in Subscription, that's one place they notice. if you are not on subscription, cllick on the CONTACT US link at the bottom of most Autodesk webpages and let them know.

Oh, and by 'you' I'm not singling out anyone, it's just a general 'you' for all that read this thread.

Pendean,

Totally respect and understand your comments but unsure where my issue lies - is it with HP or Autodesk as the printer works fine on LT 2014. I have posted in the printing section and have contacted autodesk via my subscription. Will wait to see what comes of the issue but Currently have to go back to LT 2014 for printing.

Hello

... As a "very old" user (since R1.4 in 1984) of ACAD and all hardware around ...

A long time ago, people from HP, Compaq, Calcomp, etc, were participating to the Beta Test Phase !

So the problem linked to hardware and drivers were "limited" !

Unfortunately today (and yesterday), the enduser (poor customer) discover "strange" problems/conflicts ...

and has to wait for the Update 1/SP 1 and the new release of the printer/plotter driver ...

And I don't speak about the marvellous graphic card drivers !!!

Please remind that it is not an Autodesk Problem, it's a "general" software editor problem !!

Probably a combination of both, or neither: hard to tell unless you can get others to replicate your issue and help solve it (or identify).

The fact that it works with all your other deivces tells me either a ploter driver setting is missed (or just plain missing): hope you indicated in your other post whether you are using a system driver or a custom PC3 file and which driver is install in Windows that you are using with it.

99% of the time if you have an issue with "some" printers but not all installing a newer AutoCAD version almost never solves it: just based on my experiences.

Have tried pc3 and system driver with same result. Latest printer driver installed. Cannot be without the HP A1 printer and therefore unless this issue is resolved I will uninstall LT2015 and use LT 2014 until LT 2016 is released. What a waste of subscription payment for this year ( feel very much ripped off!)

Today appeared able to install AutoCAD LT 2015 from Autodesk website. I have tried several times but without success. Each time the error occurs at Akamai installation process. What is wrong? Maybe Autodesk servers are busy overly. Or should I look for the fault in my computer settings?

Choose the web browser download option instead: that download manager only works for computers with lackluster security controls.

As long as you don't want to try and figure it out is be very surprised if LT2016 would fix the problem with your HP device/driver. Good luck.

Thanks Pendean. I have sent messages to both Autodesk and HP asking for their support to resolve this issue. I will post back on here if they do find a solution as I am sure many more will be using this popular printer on LT2015. Other than this issue, reasonably impressed with the recent version!

Not much faith in either Pendean?? I will keep hounding them until they do find a solution! I suspect that an updated driver for the printer may be required or some tweaking in LT. I suspect HP will want this resolved as this printer is a current version and is popular with Architects. I doubt very much that HP will wish to have a A1 cad printer to be sold with a caution stating that it will not work with Autocad LT 2015!

Have also posted on the printing section but no replies on there to date.

Just a thought, I wonder if there is anyone else on the forum that owns a HP designjet T520 and that they have managed to avoid this issue on the new LT version?

Have also added screen shots.

Daryl

Yesterday I tried all sorts of ways, with different browsers. No results.

I will try next week.

Daryl,

For what it's worth, I just downloaded 2015 lt, migrated everything - and my printer dialog is the same as it ever was for my HP Designjet T520 printer. The paper sizes are all there in the drop down, just like always. I know that doesn't help you, but it made my morning easier Smiley Wink.

What I would like to change is the little icons that appear just above and to the right of the pickbox when you click on anything -I guess they are tool tips or something- I find them distracting and I want them to go away. I'll figure it out eventually, but if someone knows how to make them stop, I'd appreciate it.

Anne,

Thank you for your comments - much appreciated.  The only thing that I did different was to undertake a clean install and not migrate settings from LT2014. I have just had another look at the migrate settings options and there doesn’t seem to be anything related to printers for migration???

Any comments from forum experts?

Daryl
