Is there a way to create a cutsom cross reference for a Parent Symbol in Symbol builder?
Example, we have a black box assembly block that is referenced on the corresponding "Sub Assembly" drawing. I added a rung in the subassembly and use a Child (just TAG2) to link to whereever the black box is used. On the black box currently you have to go into Component Overide and select between drawings "REF DWG-%S"
This way what you get is a sub assembly drawing that can be included into the project with any sheet number, show where it is used in the Sub Assembly dwg and have where it is used in the schematic as "REF DWG-"<whatever sheet it is>
And all you had to do was link it in the Sub Assermbly drawing, after that you can move it around and it is still linked
Any thoughts?
thanks!
In case anybody is interested, it appears when using the saved circuit method it will retain these cross reference overides so you don't have to store them in the Symbol itself!

Hi.
These overrides are saved as XDATA in the inserted block. That's why it can't be saved within the symbol itself, as it hasn't been inserted yet.
As you have discovered, wblocking or saving a circuit actually saves an inserted symbol and so the custom cross reference is saved within it
