sites are mysteriously duplicated and all my parcel labels disappeared

I don't know how but somehow civil 3d 2013 has duplicated multiple sites multiple times. My original parcels have been renumbered (i.e. parcel #40 is now #236). I've lost the display of my parcel #s and my parcel segment labels. I've checked all the settings and I've overwritten them with the settings from a previous version of the same file where everything is fine. No matter what I've done I can't get these labels back. This is the 2nd time it's happened, each time I was doing simple line work & text revisions, I wasn't doing anything at all with the sites or parcels.

Any ideas?

Perhaps you would be better served if you relate the Service Packs installed as well as your computer specifications.

I would agree with Bill that it is very important to narrow down the problem with version and SP's applied.

That being said this issue does come up when you insert a Civil 3D drawing into a new drawing, like a Block where you have sites set in your template and source drawing of the same name. Usually you'll get something that looks like this: Boundary|1

Copying and pasting Civil 3D objects with the Windoze clipboard will also duplicate sites.
