Has anyone seen any emails from autodesk on the migration to infrastructure design suite, my reseller as told me about it, but said autodesk has sent out emails on it and I have not seen anything from them on it. Just check to see if anyone else has seen them.
Thanks

Working on Civil 3D in Canada

I see the Building Design Suite is also in my download area, anyone know if i need to download this too.
This definitely isn't by design and we're working on getting it cleared up ASAP. My apologies for the inconvenience and please let me know if you have any additional questions.
I'm worried too that I will miss the opt-out time frame. from my subscription center I see I can download 2014 LT, Cad, and the new design suite, but not Civil 3D which I want to keep and not upgrade. I've had emails on the first 2 products but not Civil 3D. wonder what the opt-out window timeframe is....
I've been told that the Opt-out by date is about mid-January 2014 if your Subscription doesn't expire before then. You should contact your reseller to discuss how this affects you. As I've posted, since we have Raster Design we will save money by upgrading. The difference in Subscription cost is only about $55 per seat.
Again. Please reach out to your reseller. They are the ones who should be able to lay out how this will specifically affect you.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I figured one of you would know the answer to this question: After installing IDS 2014 and requesting the new license file, I am only able to run 2014 and c3d 2013. Did autodesk change their policy in regards to allowing 3 previous versions? Or will I have to combine my old license file with the new one, similar to what we had to do for raster design & c3d in the past. I just find it strange that c3d 2013 is the only previous version that works with the new license.
I assume that it is doing that since the design suites did not exist prior to 2013. I was told by my reseller that we can combine license files. However, they did not mention that we could combine our 2014 IDS license with prior Civil 3D licenses. Clarification on that would be appreciated.
Technically correct, I think, but there should probably be a better explanation. They support up to 3 versions back for the *suite*, not the core product. So if you had a dedicated Civil3D 2014 license, you could run Civil3D 2012. If you upgrade from the core product to the suite, I don't think you would be allowed to combine the "old" licenses since they are technically replaced by the suite licenses (kind of like taking your old 2011 licenses and appending them to your 2012 license file to double your license count). There may be a legitimate work-around for that if they recognize the problem - sign in to subscription, request licensing support and explain your situation.
I should be able to shed some light on the issue of upgraded products vs. previous versions.
Once your license has been upgraded to a different product line (in this case Civil 3D -> Infrastructure Design Suite) all previous licenses are no longer valid. If one has a standalone license and needs access to previous versions, they would need to submit a Previous Version Request in the Subscription Center.
Network licenses are different in that as long as they are attached to a Subscription, they will automatically generate a package license file, containing the supported previous versions, meaning that the software would also have to be deployed / installed as a suite on the users machine.
Lets see if I'm reading this right. If I am on Subscription, have a network license and want to install Infrastructure Design Suite Premium 2014 but also be able to run C3D 2012. I'd have to download and install Infrastructure Design Suite Premium 2012. The network license will have package information.

Correct! The exception here is for 2011 components which can be installed separately as the 1st IDS release was 2012.
A simply way to verify package license file components and the corresponding / required previous version installations is to open the license file in the Autodesk License Parser.
*Edit - The cascade sequence should allow for previous Civil 3D installs to work as expected. Even though you're now on a Suite, the NLM no longer cares as it simply will hand out a seat to whatever product launches.
OK, so I guess I understand what you are saying, however, that doesn't seem to be the case for me after some more testing.
Right now, I have I.D.S. 2014 installed along with C3D 2011-2013. This is the first year we are using IDS, basically because of the free upgrade. We are using a network license. After applying the new license file to our license manager I can access the following:
1. All I.D.S. 2014 software
2. c3d 2013
3. c3d 2011
I can't however gain access to c3d 2012... I get the "no valid license can be found" message.
It doesn't seem to matter whether we had the IDS or just C3D in previous years - except for 2012.
??
Nice utility. Looking forward to trying it.
Yes. 2011 is a bit different. These are the choices I have to download;
AutoCAD Raster Design English 2011 Win 32/64
AutoCAD English, Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Russian 2011 Win 32

AutoCAD English, French, Spanish, Portuguese 2011 Win 64
AutoCAD Civil 3D English 2011 Win 32
AutoCAD Civil 3D English 2011 Win 64
AutoCAD Map 3D English 2011 Win 32
AutoCAD Map 3D English 2011 Win 64
Autodesk 3DS Max Design English 2011 Win 32/64
Autodesk Navisworks Simulate English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish 2011 Win 32
Autodesk Navisworks Simulate English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish 2011 Win 64
null English, French, German 2011 Win 32/64
I guess all I'd have to do is download C3D, RD, Map 3D, 3DS Max and Navisworks all 64 bit. Maybe AutoCAD English, Japanese 2011 Win 64 too. It looks a lot more daunting on the site. But I probably wont do any.

An email came in this morning. It confirms that you can revert to Civil 3D up until Jan. 15, 2014. For what looks like a minimal increase in the Subscription cost. You're going to get a lot more software. I think just Raster Design or 3ds Max would be worth the price. The yearly Subscription on Raster Design is about 5 times what the Infrastructure Design Suite extra cost will be.
I'm still suggesting that everyone discuss this with their reseller before deciding.

The other thing to remember is that it's not just about cost - you need to factor in training and learning to use the software that you get (some of which looks pretty complicated).
Yes. That has to be considered. But since we are getting software we didn't anticipate for what is a low cost per seat. You don't have to worry much about ROI.
We already have Raster Design so no training there. The rest I plan to pick up as I go and offer individual training as needed. I have to learn a bit about each program before I can decide if and where it will be integrated in to our workflow.
Of course other shops will have different needs and a different plan.

Funny. My reseller just asked for a copy of the email. He has clients that haven't gotten anything on this issue either and Autodesk doesn't copy their resellers on emails sent to clients. So he wanted to see what we were being told.

there is a major update regarding the suite migration for civil 3d and map 3d customers on subscription:
New deadline of July 15, 2013, to take action on opt in or opt out of $0 cost upgrade to Infrastructure Design Suite. This replaces the previously communicated deadline of January 15, 2014.

Question:
What is the purpose of having an option to "opt out" if Adesk considers you to have opted out if you don't opt in?

1.3 What options are now available to affected customers?
The changes in the program have been communicated via email to affected customers and state the following:
For customers with an English language product, changes include:

I just got off the phone with my reseller. He learned about this on Friday. The way he understands it is that EVERYONE who wants the upgrade must now Opt-in. This includes those who have already paid for the upgrade on Subscription. I wont repeat some of the words he used to describe this situation.
