I have received a survey drawing created using autocad 2007. I have tried opening this drawing using autocad 2013, but all I get is a blank screen, no errors showing up on the message window. I even cannot open it up using 2013 dwg true view.
Any clues why or to resolve this.
How big is the dwg filesize?

What error do you get when trying to open with DWG TrueView?
Are you sure it was created with AutoCAD and not one of the verticals?
Can you attach the dwg file here?
I have openned it up in 2011lt, saved in 2010, performed an audit and recovery. Nothing. The drawing seems to be opening up in 2013 but after a few seconds the screen flickers and "drawing1.dwg" is all that is left. have check the . The file size is 3.6M. have text the "Text window" and no errors or even any text that shows that the drawings was opening or failed.
do you have installed SP1.1 for AutoCAD 2013?
What you can try also: open the drawing in 2011, run command WBLOCK twice (each containing half of the modelspace) to create two new drawings. Open them (or insert them) with AutoCAD 2013.

If the file opens and you don't see any objects, have you checked PROXYSHOW variable is not set to zero?
0 Proxy objects are not displayed
1 Graphic images are displayed for all proxy objects
2 Only the bounding box is displayed for all proxy objects
If it's a survey it's possible that there are Proxiy Objects in play here.
I have tried inserting the drawing into blank drawings and got a "Fatal Error" Unhandled Access Violation reading 0x880c0000 exception at 880c0000h
