I probably miss something. I Have a huge DWG (80Mo).
If I want to work on this DWG in Autocad 2013, all is slooow.
Move the view (PAN with the middle button) => terrible slow and UC at the maximum.
Hardware acceleration is enable and I have a Quadro K2000M graphic card. WHY the UC is working on a PAN? It make no senses. I Have a Windows 7 64b with 8Gb of RAM.
Then I try to works in a VMware with Windows XP 32b with Autocad 2004. All is working well !!
How can I me sure that Autocad 2013 is using the graphic card?
Thanks in advance.

Have you purged your DWG ?
Are you using a lot of annotative objects and/or dynamic/parametrc blocks ?
ACAD 2004 was very fast ... compared to ACAD 201X !
Is it slow eveywhere : Model space AND Layouts ?
Thanks to answer me.
Yes I purge it. I try Audit but it's impossible in 2013.
I try all tests from this document: http://forums.autodesk.com/autodesk/attachments/au
Exactly the same DWG in 2004 is perfectly reactive. We can't accept that. How can Autodesk be credible with a version like 2013? I try with Autocad LT => same problem.
We have the feeling that Autocad (since 2 or 3 version) can't really use the graphic card. We have some other customers that try to make 3D in Autocad => Nightmare ALL is slow. It's pretty impossible to work on big file.
I know what Autodesk will answer me: Reduce the amount of detail, split the file, make block. => But in 2004 it works. Then it's not an acceptable solution.
And I don't talk about "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" software that handle this DWG very quickly...
Is there some Autodesk people who can take this in consideration?
Hello from France
If your DWG is "clean" (Purged / Audit / etc) there are 4 mains reasons for very slow process :
- Bad graphic card or more often very bad driver !
- Is your DWG very far from X=0 , Y=0 ? (because GIS / Maps / etc)
It's the probleme of the graphic card and its driver which can't manage quickly these kind of DWGs !
Have you a lot of complex dynamic/parametric Blocks ?
because AutoCAD is "thinking" a lot then the cursor is flying over this kind of "very intelligent" entities ?
Have you a lot of Annotative Objects with many differents scales ?
AutoCAD 2004/2005 ignores dynamic/parametric blocks , so no problem !
AutoCAD 2004/2005/2006/2007 ignores annotative objects , so no problem !
You can quickly check whether the slowness is caused just by your current AutoCAD settings (system variables) - switch to a "TURBO" mode temporarily. See:
Hi all and thanks for your time, I appreciate.
This file don't contain special feature, it only contain standard block, line, circle, spline, etc...
Thanks too for the Turbo mode, I keep this tools in my toolbox :-)
But now I found what is wrong.
The visual style for this file was set to "Wireframe". Change it to "2D Wireframe" and save the file.
All is perfect now :-)
With visual style "Wireframe" : Open the DWG = 1min45s
With visual style "2D Wireframe" : Open the DWG = 15s :-)))
Thanks again to all and have a nice week-end.
