I am trying to use the command PASTEORIG and it does not work for me in AutoCAD 2013 or Civil 3D 2013. Is this a known issue with a fix or am I missing something here?
I know for the longest time to paste to original cooridinates you had to select an object and right click and paste by using the menu. I also used to create a keyboard shortcut that let me use Ctrl+Shift+V, but now these workarounds do not work either. It echos the command on the command line, but does nothing, not even a returned error.
This is a pretty significant issue when working in the Civil field.

I'm using the basic acad.dwt template and creating a new drawing with nothing in it.
If I draw a line and cut it using Cntrl+X, or copy it from one drawing to a new drawing, and use PASTEORIG nothing happens. Not really sure how much more detailed I can get other than that.
I am testing this on a fresh install for both AutoCAD 2013 and Civil 3D 2013. Everyone here at my office that has tried it so far, which is now 4 users, confirms the same issue on both programs. Our 2011 installs work just fine, other than the paste to original coordinates option being greyed out in the contexual menu unless we select an object first.
What happens when: You select everything in one drawing with BASE. Type in 0,0,0 for base point. Paste into another drawing at 0,0,0? Are the objects copied from the original in the same place and coordinates as the original drawing?
Basic copy and paste works just fine. I really do not want to go through the extra steps though. If I must, I will create special commands macros for doing what you proposed. Doing so will mean I will have to create a special command that copies from 0,0,0 in one action.
I was hoping that this was a known issue with a known fix. Otherwise we are moving backward with 2013. This command is used all the time.
It's not much. Just a new drawing using AutoCAD's default template with a line in it.
I was just trying to trouble shoot if the copy with base worked. I can do both but I know that is not a help for you. I was thinking if the copy with base didn't work then there was a larger problem than just the one command. As an off the wall idea, I would check the command in the CUI and make sure it is present and correct.
I wish you luck with this one. Seems odd, but legit.
Hi, this is a longshot at best, but what is your CLASSICKEYS sytem variable set to? The help file has it backwards on how it works at least on my installation. Most of the posts I've seen on this problem all have Civil installed so maybe if you try posting there someone else may have figured something out.
... Cntrl+X, or copy it from one drawing to a new drawing, and use PASTEORIG nothing happens.
If someone has mentioned this already, forgive me.
CTRL+X will not work with pastorig. CTRL+V will. Copyclip will. Copybase is unnecessary if using pasteorig.
