Hi,

open my attached drawing, run _PEDIT (and option _JOIN) and look at the resulting objecttype and the number of vertizes. Next again open my drawing and do the same with command _JOIN. Now you have the major difference found 😉

(please rename the file back to .dwg)

Hi,

do you have renamed the file to .DWG ... and do you have AutoCAD 2013 or 2014? What message do you get when you try to open the file?

I have attached now the same drawing saved as DXF2010, hopefully that works.

thanx so much. now i see there is a difference. when i use the join icon it becomes one segment with one set of grips which cant be edited and when i use the pedit icon you can edit at the point which used to be the end of every segment.

is that the only difference?

thank you very much!

Hi,

>> [...] is that the only difference?

For colinear lines there are two differences:

a) the resulting object is a line (whereas using _PEDIT it get's converted to a polyline)

b) vertices are cleaned as you already stated.

And that's it (nothing more to be found in the help) 😉
