so... for Windows, has acadSynonymsGlobalDB.pgp replaced Acad.pgp?
Does Acad.pgp still exist? The shell commands are there...
What is so 'Global' about acadSynonymsGlobalDB.pgp... ?
What sense does it make to have, and maintain, both of these?
Two separate animals: acad.pgp still has the same exact function.
The newer function is that 2014 feature being touted where it tries to guess what you mean when you type something unique like DRAW (it will start Line command). Leave the newer pgp file alone and don;t mix/match functionaility unless you honestly did have DRAW defined as LINE command for some inexplicable reason instead of just L
You now also have a AutoCorrectUserDB.pgp in 2014. That stores frequent misspellings that the program figures out as you type and then select from the suggestions offered. You can also add your own.
Isn't the new Synomym feature the same as PGP file?
Neither of the new "pgp" files needed creating IMO.
I wrote an article on this recently ( http://bit.ly/161M9iv ) that goes into more detail.
I just got an idea on how to use the new pgp files to my advantage. Not the way it was intended of course!
I have purchased a 3rd party add-on to make my life easier. The rest of the users don't have it. So if I add the aliases that are provided with it. I might cause problems for other users since the acad.pgp file is shared on the network.
I could add those aliased to the AutoCorrectUserDB.pgp and keep it local. A corrections file should be kept locally anyway. Maybe that way I can eat my cake and have it too.
