SUBTRACT IN 3D, OBJECTS GROUP AS ONE

I'm using Cad 2012, I'm working with a SteelPlus package and the coping doesnt work so we have to create the coping using polylines and extrude.

when i go to suctract multiple beams, it groups all the beams together and i cant seperate them without exploding the beam and it seperating in to multiple parts.

how do i fix this?

Or do i need to create multiple polyline coping blocks?

Are you using the solidedit>separate command?

I took the liberty of marking this as an "accepted solution" based on your response.
