I just discovered DELREGAPPS and it is an amazing thing to see. Just ran it on a handful of files and most went from 5,500 KB to 400 KB. Amazing
Interesting someone mentioned PDFs here. This is not my original idea, but I tend to put PDFs in their own drawing, then XREF that into the next one up as an overlay. Then when THAT one gets XREFd into my parent drawing, the PDFs don't come along with it. And that my friends is how you make a PDF an overlay
PS another idea is to set your demand loading and indexing properly, so the parent drawing only loads the items and layers found within an XREF's clip boundary!
This all speaks more to general file management, but another thing I like to do is create a layer filter called No XREFs, with ~*|* as the argument. This is so you see everything BUT the XREF layers in the Layer Manager. That one is one of my originals
You can do that by default. Select the 'Xref' filter, and check off the 'Invert filter" box.

I have the same problem. at first, my dwg file had 13MB, when I cleaned it, its size was reduced to 9,5MB, but this size is large for me, because I have used this file as DWG reference. I have already used commands as PURGE, PURGE REGAPPS, AUDIT, OVERKILL and Wblock. I have already cleaned another files, where I could reach reducing size of dwg files. any tips how I can solve this problem ? thanks.
best regards Juraj
