trim symmetry

When working on deck lid and hood I use Object Edit>Symmetric Modeling. I would also like trimming operations to be applied symmetrically across the centerline. Is there a way to do this?

Hi,

Yes there is a way.

With layer symmetry, which is a different concept.

And be careful with symmetry across centre lines.

Personally I dont usually model with symmetry across centrelines. For example, I dont do half roof and then mirror it. I do the full roof, which ensures me a perfect surface at centre line. By using a half model, i am introducing unnecessary noise into the surface.

This is just personal, some people prefer to do it this way, some dont.

Good luck

I was trying to avoid layer symmetry for the reasons you mentioned. Symmetric trim would be useful feature.
