How to export to obj keeping layers

Hello!

I would like to know how to export my project into an obj file (or other polygonal file) keeping layers (in order to assign material) for rendering?

I tried the "group option" in obj options, but c4d  and rhino open the object on a unique layer....

I actually have each "mesh" (composed of many surfaces) in a separate layer.

My goal is to export it to C4D

I am surprised it to not be so intuitive to do that...

Thank you very much!

This is the solution:

-Use the tool "nurbs to mesh" to convert each object (composed of many surfaces) into a polygonal object (also composed of many syrfaces)

-Place each mesh object into a unique renamed layer.

To do that: create a layer, rename this layer, pick this layer, right click into the layer includind the object to convert  and click to "pick object". Still being on the new layer, click on "nurbs to mesh" you got  a mesh on your new layer. Hide the nurbs layer

-Select all your meshes ("select mesh" tool)

-File-Export-Active as option-

-Choose DXF

-You get a file working on C4D with layers and good tessellation.

That is the better solution I found...
