Why doesn't "shaded materials with maps" work? (picture)

The reverse of this works, the "Materials - shaded materials without maps" effectively removes textures.

But I have a Multi/Sub object material that refuses to show textures again when using shaded materials with maps

To get the textures back, I need to manually click the "Show shaded material in viewport" and then from the dropdown (pic) select one of the two

It would be extremely useful to hide the characters texture during skinning!

@oyvind3BPMJ

Why not just switch to Shaded: object color in Display tab for skinning and back to Material color when done?  That's what I do when I want to hide textures for some task.

Thanks that did the trick!

I ended up making a hotkey for it using this script, if anyone else wanted the same thing, so just add this script to the user macros folder, run it (or restart), and find it under the name TextureToggler in hotkeys

macroScript TextureToggler
	category:"DragAndDrop"
	toolTip:"TextureToggler"
(
	if displayColor.shaded == #material then displayColor.shaded = #object else displayColor.shaded = #material
)
