vray light plane

Hi I have a big scene, which needs to be lighted with a uniform light, the height from floor to ceiling is 3.5m and the m2 floor area is about 300 or more.

I have used a vray plane light, but its leaving shadows. It's double sided and invisible but i can see the borderline of a shadow where the light isn't being cast. I've turned on global lighting, which has helped a little but not too much. How would i get rid of the shadow, i need to see both ceiling and floor so i cant put the plane light all the way to the ceiling. I have tried to use a sphere light bt hasnt helped too much

Hi,

I might be misunderstanding your intentions but have you tried turning off the shadows in each objects properties? Right click and chose object properties - you can turn off the objects ability to cast or receive shadows. This can be done with layer properties as well if you have a lot of objects.

Also - in Vray 3.4 you can disable shadows via Global Switches - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3MAX/Global+Switches

If you need a even lighting and not a physical lighting, I could recommend to use an VRay ambient light. place it around the center of the room, (it doesn't really matter the location actually) and set your GI as you like, You'll need to adjust the exposure accordingly.

If you do't want to deal with GI then just turn it off and place a dirt map shader on the ambient light 'light map' shader option. then just adjust the dirt map distance.

This will crease a Ambien Occlusion effect in you whole scene and maintain materials.

If it is an exterior scene, then just use a VRay dome light, with or without GI.
