V-Ray & 3ds Max 2017 Windows 10 64-bit - Transparent objects

Hi,

Is there anyone who knows about V-Ray Materials?  I was watching this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs60MLjDGXM) tutorial and the tutor mentions choosing Standard, then V-Ray Material from the Materials Editor box to assign to a V-Ray plane.  However, I'm not given that choice (as you can see from the attached screen shot).

Is V-Ray Color or any of the other V-Ray choices something that I can apply to the V-Ray plane to help me create a transparent glass look to my object?  In the tutorial video it's a teapot, but I really would like to use this for my class project to create a diffused light effect in my scene for my Materials and Lighting course.

I've only just downloaded and installed the V-Ray demo for 3ds Max from the Chaos Group site this evening, but would like to purchase the full program to work in combination with my 3ds Max.

Second question: does V-Ray work in MotionBuilder and Mudbox?

Thank you so much!! 🙂

Sincerely,

Crystal

Right now you are inside of one of the material, press the small up arrow ( see image below) for you to see the list of materials you need..

here is the image sample, after pressing that arrow

and here is the sample of the material with transparency

To understand more of the materials, check this link:

https://www.vray.com/vray_for_3ds_max/manual/vraymtl_examples.shtml#The_Refraction_color_parameter

for your second question:

import those objects ( mudbox and motion builder) to 3ds max, vray will work on that object
