Render keeps getting stuck at 5% (MtoA 2024)

Hi everyone,

I am slowly starting to loose my marble's.

I am rendering the front view of a steel frame wich constists of 6 parts, nothing more, nothing special. But everytime i render it keeps getting stuck on 5% and i really dont know what i can do.

I have stripped all parameters down to the bare minimum so that its easy to render. I have rendered 70+ scenes with these settings (even higher actually) but now all of a sudden Arnold does not want to go to work anymore.

It has come to the point that it goes from 1%-5% in under 20 seconds, and then stays stuck on 5% for the next 2 hours.

I use 3DS Max 2024 and use Arnold.

Thanks guys!

- Nick

I still dont know what the cause is, only that i managed to get it away by degrading about every part of the render.

It went on when i:

- Turned the resolution to 640 x 480p from 1920 x 1080.

- Turned off autosave.

- Put nearly all render parameters below 2.

- Put my angle detection way down.

- Put the one transparant object i had (50%) back to 100%.

Only then it went on, but the quality was the lowest of the low as you can imagine.

But maybe this will help someone in the future.

I have sometimes experienced similar problems. What I have found to work is to start a new scene then imorting/merging all of the objects, lights etc from the troublesome scene into the new fresh one. Not sure if it will work in this case but it might be worth trying.
