Height map

Hello folks,

Started learning Arnold a couple of weeks back and am getting there, [ slowly ] Figured out how to create a Shadow plane, Cameras, Lights ect. But there is one area that I am struggling with and that is If I export my textures from Painter using the Metallic Roughness template , when I choose a Metallic Roughness material node from Arnold there is nowhere to plug my height map into. [ see screenshot ] and as it is the height map that drives any paint chips / thickness  ect in Painter  I seem to lose the paint thickness when inside Arnold.  Do I need to create a special node in order to use the height map?  I have attached a couple of my first serious attempts using Arnold and you will maybe see the problem as regards the paint thickness [ it seems to be far less than it is  inside Painter ]

thanks,

Raymond.

You should use Arnold Properties modifier and put height map to its Displacement map.
Other parameters of displacement in this modifier will allows you tweak height.

Many thanks for the info, I have attached a screenshot of the Arnold properties modifier but I can't seem to figure out how to load the Height map into the Displacement slot. When I check 'Use Map' it lists the scene material maps but as I don't have the Height map connected it is not listed in the scene materials.  What is the procedure for connecting the Height map to the Displacement ?

Thanks,

Raymond.

You can simply drag wire from material editor to modify panel.

@RGhost77  Many thanks for your help with this, The info you provided works great. I can now maintain the paint / chip thickness.

I have so much to learn about Arnold but using the good folks on this forum and a bit of trial and error on my part I am getting there [ slowly ].

Cheers.
