Ground plane in Matte/Shadow/Reflection tuned completely white

Hi, I am having a problem with Matte/Shadow/Reflection. From the beginning of using it my ground plane for shadows wasn't completely transparent however it was so slight I didn't find it to be that much of a problem. However the whole time I was using it my renders were coming out over exposed. I adjusted the mr Exposure Control to correctly expose but now the ground plane is completely white. I have included the current render (exposure_fix_3.jpg) of the white plane. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I didn't have you background image you had so had to add my own...but same result.

but I was able to kinda see mine, so I added a output modifier to mine, change the Intensity down to 0.1.

and I got this

Not sure what end result you are going for with this setup, first time I have seen a set up like this. But at less this is a starting point for you to turn down the crazy brightness.

If you are looking to just set up an environment rendering this is the best way to do it. (IMO) Click Here  It dose say for iray, that what I use... but it will work for mr.

Here is a quick render with and HDRI I have using the set of the site I gave you. My HDRI output had to be at a 100.

Let me know how it works out for you!

Thanks, your suggestion sorta worked, however when I added the Output map to the Material Editor it also darkened the background image. Strangely the further I took the RGB level down the objects got darker as expected but the background stayed the same. By turning the level down to .025 I was able to get the objects to match the background, however now that I look at it the teapot seems unusually bright. I included the image exposure fix 11.jpg to show what I mean. Do you know what I am missing? Thanks!
